Cold, And Windy, And Long Run, Oh, My!

Guess we're not ready to face the fact that old man winter is right around the corner, but we didn't let the cold morning temperature stop us from getting out for our run, having fun and being silly...

We decided to do today's run at the North Carolina Arboretum. You can see by the sagging leaves on the Rhododendrons that they weren't too happy with the cold either. Temperature at the start of the run was 24 with a wind chill of 15...

But, at least the sun was shining brightly...

We ran for miles and miles where the only other runners we saw were our own shadows...

The trail is beautiful this time of year...

a little break to soak up the warmth from the sun...

Bartman sporting his new Hokas...

at the small amphitheater, Bart gave a talk about the importance of layering your clothes during cold weather to an audience of 5, a squirrel, a chipmunk, 2 Pileated woodpeckers and me...

Well, not exactly this one, but just to give you the idea (we spotted a pair of them)...

so off we went on our merry way...

when our little eyes spied some icicles...

and before we knew it, we had to get serious and start our climbing...

our run finished up with the temperature warming up to 34 degrees and beautiful blue skies...

Happy Running!
