Random Thoughts From Today's Run
Being the first runner on a trail in the morning usually means running through spider webs...
Bart: "I hate spider webs. I just wish the spiders would go away and die!"
Eve: "That's not going to happen Bart. There will always be spiders, and there will always be webs. You need to just accept it, and embrace it."
Reflecting on Ellie Greenwood's race report after winning the Comrades race...
"Never, ever give up" -Ellie Greenwood
Bart: "Maybe we'll see Lloyd out on the trail today"
Eve: 'Maybe we won't"
Bart: "yes, there's always that possibility that we won't"
Eve: "I think we have a 50/50 chance"
Discussing why it takes some guy 1 hour, 50 minutes to make one point on a Podcast...
Eve: "but why state the outline, talk about the topics of outline, then summarize the outline. That's talking about the same thing three times. 1 hour 50 minutes, who has time to listen to all that"
Bart: "The key is to stay focused and not go way off the topic"
Eve: "Yea, this isn't English 101, or maybe for him, it is English 101. So how long did you end up listening to this guy?"
Bart: "16 minutes"
Finally making it to the restroom for a nature break...
"Whew, that almost kilt me. I almost blowed up twiced!" (not telling who said that one)
Reflecting on it being so difficult to get back into running after having surgery, and being glad to have come across this quote on Pinterest...
"JUST RUN. It's very hard to understand in the beginning that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants to quit"-George Sheehan
Tired of people using the excuse that their getting older and they can't to this or that...
"You're never too old to do it" -91 year old Harriette Thompson after breaking the U.S. record for the fastest marathon run in the 90-94 age group.
