Wintergreen Falls Run

Tarklin Branch Trail

Perfect weather, perfect company, perfect day for a run. Everything was perfect... except for the time change this morning. Seriously, why can't they change it by 1/2 hour and then just leave it alone. That's all I've got to say about that.

After watching a marathon day of  "Blue Bloods" yesterday, the boys and I thought it best that we get away from the house today, so we took a short trip to DuPont State Forest for our run and included a side trail to Wintergreen Falls.

Wintergreen Falls is so incredibly serene and peaceful, Bart and Shadow really wanted to wade out onto the natural rock chair in the middle of the pool, but the party pooper wouldn't let them for fear they would slip and be swept away, never to be seen again.

The temps got up into the 60's today which in the sun was kind of warm, but back on the trails, the shade kept us nice and cool.

Cruising on down the trail.

We crossed over Grassy Creek a couple of times. Shadow's funny because he will not go directly through the water.  He scampered from rock to rock (right side of picture).

The horse on the left didn't want to go into the creek until his two friends got in and showed him it was safe.

Just a girl and her doggie.

After the run we stopped at Mills River Restaurant and had some yummy Veggie Tortilla Bowls and a side of fries.

Bart didn't even bother to use a fork.  He just stuck his face in it like it was a water trough! Mmm, Mmm!
