It usually takes us twice as long to do our long runs in the spring because we're constantly stopping to look at various flowers, listen to birds sing, or check out tadpoles in the pond. Most of the time these little breaks are our favorite parts of the run. Maybe we're just explorers who run along the way so that we can look at more things over a longer distance in a shorter period of time than if we just walked. Yup we just love to be outdoors. Here's some of what we saw today...
Beautiful purple flowers. They were everywhere...
Crossing the French Broad River...
Beautiful tiny blue flowers. These were everywhere too...
Heading into the Arboretum...
This flower blooms under the plant and the flower part is facing the ground...
More little flowers...
We reached our turn around point just inside the Arboretum. Perfect place to cool off and refill the water bottles...
Bike path heading out of the Arboretum...
Bird house...
It's always fun to see our pal Luke... and Mike (who is not in the picture)
Crossing back over the French Broad River where a group is just starting out on their kayak adventure...
Today we covered 16 awesome miles. It got a little too warm during the later part of the run, so next time we'll head out earlier in the morning... like, 4 am with headlamps :-)
Happy running!
